The process of making pickles can be long and complicated, however some pickles are quick and simple to make right in your refrigerator. Most of the ingredients for this homemade pickle recipe can be grown in your backyard, or even on your patio:
3 Quarts Cucumbers, Thinly Sliced
1 Large Onion, Thinly Sliced
1 Large Green Pepper, Sliced
3 Cups Fair Trade Organic Cane Sugar
1/4 Cup Sea Salt
2 Cups Organic White Vinegar (you can experiment with different types of Vinegar)
1 tsp. Fair Trade or Homegrown Celery Seed
1 tsp. Fair Trade or Homegrown Mustard Seed
If you want a Dill taste simply add a few sprigs of Homegrown Dill or 1 tsp of Fair Trade Dill Seed
The end result should have cucumbers that look fresh.
Mix all of the ingredients together and store in your refrigerator. They will keep for a while, however they most likely won’t last long as they will be gobbled up quickly.
